JOHN FRENCH FOR SPRING VALLEY MAYOR My plan for the town is a very solid plan. It's solid because l'm going to make a difference with the volunteers in our community, working with the business owners downtown, and the people who own the buildings in the downtown area so we can make a difference right away. The reason I am so passionate about this is I know in this present state it's tough to get grants and assistance. Why wait on broken promises when French for Mayor can get started right away? The other candidates have mentioned they will utilize grants to make improvements. They don't have the experience that I do. I have the machinery ready to go. I can take care of the materials and the labor. A lot of these buildings are 3 stories tall, and I have the manpower to get in there using lifts that I already own. I will be saving the city money because we don't have to rent the equipment. We can get right to work. I will also work on getting grants, but what I can guarantee is getting started right away. I want to fix this town in a way it's never been done before. A good example would be the street right in front of our police department on Greenwood, from Route 6 to Devlin St. It's never been repaired since the 1980's. It's a beautiful police department, yet we don't fix the street right in front of it. This is a prime example of how long it takes for grants to work. So now you have a candidate that is ready to do something now and is able to do something now, instead of waiting for years down the road. A big reason I am running for mayor is in my lifetime I would like to see some major changes made in Spring Valley. I don't want to wait fo the grants, I don't want to see Spring Valley become a ghost town. I will still work hard to get the grants, but I want to be able to do something now, while we're waiting on the grants, so that our town can be beautified on a day to day basis. People are asking how I can promise to do this. If each building took me approximately 6 months to remodel, in a four year term, that could be 8 new buildings. When was the last time we had 8 new buildings in this downtown? I can make that happen with no problem. That is an easy task with my background and experience. We also want to make our fire department stronger in our first 100 days. We need volunteers, and I will help Chief Todd Bogatitus to bring in volunteers to help with the fire department. So as Mayor of Spring Valley, I feel that all I have promised will be an easy achievement. I have the passion, and it's inside of me to want to make a big difference.
