My name is Sherry Mayszak and I am running for the position of Peru City Clerk in the April 6, 2021 election. I have lived in Peru for 41 years. I was born in Chicago and grew up in Oak Lawn, a Chicago suburb and moved to Peru in 1979 with my parents. My father was truck driver for Consolidated Freightways and got transferred to Peru after CF moved here. My mom still lives in Peru. I'm married to Mike (Mick) Mayszak who is a pharmacist at St. Margaret's Health-Peru. We have three children, Joe (Kayla) Mayszak, Emily Vega and Sam Mayszak. We also have two granddaughters, Marina and Noelle Vega. I have worked as an administrative assistant for 26 years. The bulk of my experience has been working in accounting offices. Clerk work is what I have done my entire adult working career, and I'm pretty good at it. I try to find the smartest, most efficient ways of doing things. I've worked many tax seasons that required long hours and no days off from January I thru April 15, so I know what it is to work hard. This is the same work ethic I will bring to the City Clerk position.
