The La Salle Veterans of Foreign Wars Post was mustered in on October 21, 1945 and was dedicated to veteran's service and community service. Since our begining there have been 36 people who have served as Post Commander many for more than one term, of those 36 dedicated individuals 4 are still alive today. Over the years we have been involved in our community by supporting Little League Baseball, Girls League Softball, Scouting, Safety Programs, Patriotic and Americanism education of both our youth and adults. We have advocated for veterans through legislation at both the State and Federal levels, and were one of the organizations that lobbied for the creation of the La Salle Veterans' Home. We continue today to promote veteran's issues at the local, county, State and Federal levels. We strive to promote patriotism and americanism through community involvment and the schools by volunteering to address schools and groups on the patriotic duty of every citizen. We sponsor schollarships for Junior High students and High School Students with the VFW National Patriot's Pen and Voice of Democracy competitions every year.
