Since 1999 IVCIL has been leading the way to independence for people with disabilities The Illinois Valley Center for Independent Living works to ensure people with disabilities live quality and fulfilling lives. IVCIL is a nonprofit, non-residential service and advocacy organiza tion based in La Salle that assists persons with disabilities in opening doors to their indepen dence. IVCIL serves the communities of La Salle, Bureau, Putnam, Mar shall and Stark counties. with disabilities. Making IVCIL unique is that more than 50 percent of its direct services staff, management and Board of Directors have disabil ities themselves, meaning we are consumer driven so the people we serve know we can and do relate very well to them and their needs regard- less of what their disabil ity may be. In 2018, IVCIL served 113 consumers across its five-county territory. We provided information and referral services to 542 ntegration program and Youth Services program We serve anyone that has any type of disability at any age and all services are FREE. IVCIL is also a United Way agency member IVCIL also coordi nates the Mobile Meals program, which operates five days a week. The program provides meals to people in the La Salle Peru-Oglesby area, driven by valued community volunteers every day who drop off meals for those who can't cook or go out for themselves. Further we are providing a well ness check to these indi viduals, which is equally important IVCIL has five core services including in- formation and referrals, peer counseling, advo- cacy, independent living skills training and transi- tion services to people individuals.
